REQUIRED 8 hours annual

Citation: 540 CMR 8.03

The RMV (not the DOE) licenses school bus drivers via a separate School Bus Certificate under MGL c.90 s.8A, renewed annually with a medical exam. Initial pre-service is ~60 hours (min 32 BTW + 28 classroom for new CDL holders; 40 combined hours for existing CDL holders) with a written exam scored at 75%+; renewal requires an in-service program of not less than 8 hours delivered by an RMV-certified instructor.
