School bus in-service

We found no state-level recurring in-service mandate for school bus drivers. Districts and employers may still require training. Nevada mandates an initial state-approved course (at least 20 hours behind the wheel plus 20 hours classroom, NRS 386.825) and an annual recurring WRITTEN EXAMINATION - drivers must pass the state school bus driver written exam (80%+) before each school year (NAC 386.510) - but no statewide hour-based annual in-service training requirement for drivers was found in NAC 386.500-386.530 or the current NDE training manual. Note: the widely quoted '10 hours of in-service training each year' in NAC 386.530 applies to certified TRAINERS (providers of training), not drivers; districts may impose their own in-service hours. Pupil transportation is overseen by the Nevada Department of Education.

CDL renewal cycle: every 8 years.

No general CDL continuing-education requirement beyond renewal; Nevada CDLs issued since 2018 are valid 8 years (4 years at age 65+).

Hazmat: Standard TSA security threat assessment cycle (5 years) via TSA universal enrollment; no state fingerprint-agent quirk found.
